02/19/2011 - Been a while hasn't it?

It's amazing how often life get's in the way of plans.

Well, not amazing. Fairly common actually. Just look at the date of the previous post.

There is an old quote/military maxim that states "No plan ever survives first contact with the enemy." I don't want to characterise life as an ememy, but I think you get my idea.

I've spent the time away from the site doing things. I grew tired of my stagnation, is the main thing. Too long stuck in one place, doing the same thing. So, my first change was to go back to school.

I'll be totally honest about it at first. I mainly wanted the student loan money for a new computer. But then, I remembered the academic side of myself that had been dormant for some time. I feel I have awakened a sleeping giant.

04/03/2009 - Why I do this

My father and I had this conversation the other day. Why is it that we do what we do?

I suppose I was drawn to this form of art from a decently young age. There were things that I saw in the world. Stories, things of beauty, terrible things. And whenever I tried to explain it to people, it never quite worked out. This may have had something to do with the fact that I was nine, but it did compell me.

When I started looking at fine art photography, W. Eugene Smith being one of the majors, I relised that it was possible to tell a story, or make a point, with a single image. One fraction of a second, combined with color, shape, texture, shadow, form, and movement along with these slices of body language, facial expression, and context could tell the stories I saw in the world.

So, thus, here I am. Trying to show the world what it is my eyes have seen. Be it football or fetish parties, Bands or Being Drunk. This is life. Let me show you how I see it.
